๐ Pricing Guide
How FOB and CIF prices are actually built
The model behind this calculator: first deduct the VAT rebate from the tax-inclusive purchase price โ rebate = price รท (1 + VAT rate) ร rebate rate โ which is the single most-missed profit source; then add domestic costs (inland haulage, customs, port fees) to get the FOB cost; finally CIF = (FOB + freight) รท (1 โ 110% ร insurance rate), because marine insurance is written on 110% of CIF itself.
Enter your quoted price and the tool reverse-calculates per-unit gross profit and margin. A healthy export margin is 10%+; below 5%, FX swings alone can wipe out the profit.
Three practical tips
Look up the actual rebate rate for your HS code (0โ13%); include every misc fee in domestic costs; confirm the freight validity period with your forwarder and re-run the numbers when ocean rates move more than 5%.
โ FAQ
How does the VAT rebate add profit?
It refunds the input VAT on purchases. A ยฅ113 purchase (13% VAT) with a 13% rebate rate effectively costs ยฅ100 โ a core source of pricing competitiveness.
Why divide instead of adding insurance to FOB?
Insurance is 110% of CIF, which contains the insurance โ a circular reference. The closed-form answer is CIF = (FOB + F) รท (1 โ 1.1 ร rate).
